Welcome to English 7. In this class we will focus on the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts. English 7 integrates reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities into a well-balanced instructional program. Students will have the opportunity to read and analyze a variety of texts, write detailed essays, and develop sophisticated vocabularies.
If you have not set up an ABI account yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. This is the most efficient way for you and your child to keep up with your child's academic progress in middle school. I have talked with the students about the importance of keeping up with their own academic progress. I want them to be aware of their responsibilities when it come to their grades. They are responsible for writing assignments and due dates in their agendas, turning work in on time, and preparing for future tests and quizzes. If a student fails a quiz/test, they can speak with me on their own time (nutrition break, lunch, or after school) about scheduling an appt. to retake a test. Remember, middle school is a stepping stone toward high school. The goal is to transition the students into independent learners and you can support them by encouraging them to communicate with their teachers about their academic progress.
